It depends, camps that are labelled “Learn to Train 2.0” welcome ages 6-9. Camps labelled “Downhill Skating System” will be ages 9+. Train 2.0 Projects invite A, AA, AAA players 9+.
Downhill Skating System or “DSS” is a hockey specific skill development program designed by kinesiologist & former professional, Jason Yee. The program teaches 9 fundemental techniques that are reverse engineered from top 1% NHL players. This program is taught worldwide from Train 2.0 coaches.
Much like Downhill Skating System, Slingshot Shooting System is a course on how NHL players shoot in 2023. “SSS” teaches shooting from a technical & kinesiology perspective. The main benefit to the program is players learn to shoot harder with less effort, more deception, & while moving in different directions.
The Train 2.0 Project is a FULL SEASON skill development program. Players attend weekly sessions before or after school. The sessions include briefing calls before ice times, live video feedback on mechanics training within each session, & post video analysis. Projects take place at various locations around the Ottawa Valley.
The “Look-Feel Paradox” is players thinking they are performing a mechanic correctly, while in reality they aren’t. Video analysis is single handedly the most effective tool for player development. Players often think they match NHL mechanics, however most times there are critical movement issues holding them back. Video identifies these movement errors & displays them for each player. We have the tools to help players solve this issue BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER every training day.
YES! And with less effort. These techniques are proven to teach players to move fluently & effortlessly along the ice. This is NOT power skating by any means, this is the whole development system with lateral movement, stide mechanics, crossunder, puck control.
This is a great question. Hockey is a high intensity sport, however movement mechanics must be taught gradually. Our certified coaches are trained to get players to perfect the movement at low intensity by aligning their body’s the same way as NHLers. Once the player’s body is aligned properly, the intensity of the player will increase naturally in games & team practices by instinct. Downhill Skating System takes a feel-based learning approach. It is recommended that players continue mechanics training long term, so movement errors can be identified & solved by a coach every week.
